The Joy of Organic Gardening
This book shows you how we've gardened organically, for over 35 years, and how you can begin. The ideas in it are not new or extraordinary but sensible and accessible. You may find other books with different ways of doing things and that’s okay. We don’t claim to have the right and only way but just one way that works for us. All gardeners have their own ways of gardening.
We want to share with you our methods and successes. Remember our motto: Using nature to enhance our lives. Now let the adventure begin.

About the Author

Our story begins years ago when we were married. We decided early on to try to raise our family on healthy food, so we grew our own vegetables organically, that’s right, long before it was politically correct.
Our family has tried to use the earth as God intended, nourishing it and replenishing the soil, leaving it better than we found it.
We’ve raised vegetables and herbs and taught our children to eat healthy. Our children were raised to appreciate herbs and their many benefits, though my youngest daughter Melanie did call my tisanes “weed tea.”
My daughters, Michelle and Melanie, are grown now and they each know the importance of good food and taking care of our earth. They are now teaching my grandchildren, Hannah, Trevor, and Reagan about recycling and making their world better.
Plants have given us a great life. Briarwood Gardens, our farm, allows us to encourage others to grow vegetables and herbs organically to use for health and well-being. And we love to share the secret of loving herbs and nourishing our bodies with naturally-grown food.
We believe God has given man plants to grow and use to better our lives and we hope this book will encourage you to plant a garden and learn why herbs and vegetables are so healthy and soooo much fun. Enjoy the experience of a garden today.
