The Journey
In this enduring tale for all ages, lecturer Sandy Smith tells how Belinda, a monarch butterfly, wriggles from her cocoon and dries and spreads her wings. She dons her Amelia Earhart-style goggles and tosses a white silk aviators scarf around her neck. She is ready and eager to begin the next phase of her Journey. She is ready for a challenge!

Meanwhile, her younger cousin Calvin, still a caterpillar, lounges on a nearby leaf with his cap bill shading his eyes. He does not look forward to spending two weeks in a cocoon. For that matter he does not look forward to any change in his life, much less a Journey. "I'm comfortable right where I am," he tells his cousin.

Sandy explains how this tale has a universal application. "Through my work in organizations I see those that are stuck and not growing even though they have the potential -- the employees have the potential and many managers have the potential. A lot of organizations are struggling just like individuals without seeing that we can become more successful than we are."

Acclaim for the book:

"Wow, once again Sandy Smith was able to encapsulate a valuable principle in life and make it understandable and applicable for me and my sales people."

Jeanne Nichols, Vice President Sales and Marketing, Graniti Fiandre, USA

"The learning lessons you have provided in The Journey are invaluable,"

Phil Stalcup, Cermark, Inc.

"Once you meet Calvin and Belinda they become part of your life. Their experiences are so true to life you will want to share their story with your co-workers, family members and friends."

Sherry T. Hunt President, All Meds, Inc.

"I continue to visit Belinda from time to time so I do not get too comfortable being Calvin. I have brought Belinda and Calvin to many sales meetings and watched as the Belindas evolved. It has been a great discussion and training tool."

Mary Yocum, West Coast Vice President Sales, Crossville, Inc.
