About the Author

Dr. Rod Monger has had a life-long involvement with computer technologies. He was formerly vice president of consulting services for a firm that analyzed leading technology trends for major international companies. He authored Managing Technology, published by Macmillan/The Free Press, a book dealing with the effective implementation of information technologies, and Managerial Decision Making with Computers (Pergamon Press), an early exploration of how artificial intelligence is changing the work of knowledge workers, like executives and top-level managers. He has also published a textbook through John Wiley & Sons.

Dr. Monger has served overseas as a consultant to the World Bank and other international organizations. He currently teaches business at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas and was formerly Professor and Chair of the Business Department at American University of Afghanistan. His current interest is the role technologies like machine learning and advances in neuroscience and emotion detection will play in restructuring K-12 and higher education institutions, and the resulting economic and social consequences.

Dr. René Ryman is an Assistant Professor at the American University of Paris where she is a member of the business faculty. She has worked extensively with public and private organizations with a focus on strategic initiatives of improving business practices by streamlining process efficiencies and cost reductions through the use of advanced technologies. Her research includes analyzing government regulation and policies from the perspective of economic initiatives that result from political agendas with the intended result of securing long term national growth and sustainability.

Dr. Ryman has published in the areas of labor equality, health care policy, and international humanitarian aid initiatives. She also holds a Department of Public Instruction K-12 teaching license in the State of Wisconsin.
