When Jane Noble Knight discovered there were Pilgrim Mothers - not just Pilgrim Fathers - who in 1620 set sail on the Mayflower from Plymouth, England, for America, she began her own journey to find out more about the hidden story of these unsung heroines. Along the way she connected with modern-day Pilgrim Mothers, women pioneers living their lives with integrity and courage.

In this second book in The Inspiring Journeys series Jane shares and celebrates the lives of nine Pilgrim Mothers she met on her personal pilgrimage - women founding a New World; women with mighty missions; courageous in the face of adversity; mindful of their families; adding value to their communities; and leaving lasting legacies. What Jane learned is that the greatest journey is the one within - to our home. Whatever route you choose, if you have never travelled that way before, you are a pioneer on your pathway to inner peace, your journey home. You are blazing your trail. Ploughing your furrow. Enjoying your ride.

'These are the stories of exceptional women, but in a sense aren't we all exceptional, and shouldn't we all celebrate the Pilgrim Mother we carry within ourselves?'

About the Author

As long as she can remember Jane has been fascinated by people. Unsurprisingly, she studied sociology and psychology at Liverpool University. Jane’s forty years’ experience spans social work, sales, teaching, training and coaching, the last thirty of which have been in people development. In 1999 Jane became a freelance training consultant, heading up national training teams with many well-known organisations, mainly in financial services. A project in which she played a leading role was runner up in a Financial Times Arts and Business Award. Alongside her corporate work Jane studied metaphysics and qualified in complementary therapies such as Hypnotherapy, Past Life Regression and Colour Mirrors. Jane is a lifelong learner. No ‘learning junkie’ who studies for study’s sake, once Jane finds something of value, she applies it – she walks her talk. In 2009 Jane took part in a BBC1 House Swap programme. A presenter’s question led her to discover the story of the Pilgrim Mothers and subsequently take up the quest to learn more about them and the hidden stories of other pioneering women. The Inspiring Journeys series is a result of Jane’s journey to celebrate the lives of women pioneers.
