About the Author

Akeem was born in California and now resides in New York City. He was a self taught artist until the age of 15 when he started receiving formal training while in high school. In 2001 he began to study Studio and Fine Art, and in that same year he sold his first piece. He has exhibited with The Cultural Arts Association's Arts Quest Art Festival, Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation's Destin Festival of the Arts, and The Art and Design Society of Northwest Florida's Southeast Regional Art Show. He has participated in group exhibitions at Taina's Art Gallery in Montgomery, Alabama, and Northwest Florida State College's Annual Juried Art Show in Niceville, Florida. He has been published in PoeTree Magazine, The Beachcomber Entertainment Magazine, and in the Culture Lounge Magazine. He has won over 25 awards in art including Best in Show 2001 for the Okaloosa County School District Art Show, 3rd place in Graphics for the The Northwest Florida Daily News Awards 2001, two Gold Medals for Painting and Drawing in the Afro-Academics, Cultural, Technological, and Scientific Olympics Competition held by the NAACP. In January 2017 He release his first ever coloring book Illustrious by: Akeem Wayne.
