About the Author


Will Fowler has worked in journalism and GUIDE TO publishing since 1972, specializing in military history, current affairs and defense technology. He is the author of over 30 books, covering military technology and conflicts from the 19th century to the Second Gulf War. He has reported for defense magazines around the world and broadcasts frequently on historical and defense-related topics on the radio and television. He has served for nearly 30 years in the British Territorial Army.

Anthony North has worked for many years at the Victoria & Albert Museum, giving him a wide knowledge of public and private collections of firearms and unique access to many historic and lavishly decorated weapons. He has written and lectured widely on the subject of arms, metalwork, and antiques since the 1970s.

Charles Stronge is an experienced editor and writer who has worked for many years for leading publishers, primarily in the fields of politics, international affairs, and military history. He has also worked as an Editor for Jane’s Information Group and served for six years in the British Territorial Army.

Patrick Sweeney grew up in the suburbs of Detroit in the United States and studied chemistry at college. He first became interested in gunsmithing when he repaired a Np.1 Mark III Lee-Enfield rifle as a student. Today he competes, teaches, and trains others in the use of firearms.
