Bullies can burst a child's innocence. THE ICE VEIL TALES offer a simple and easy technique which helps kids learn the fundamental secret to self-reliance. That secret is remembering to breathe deeply during stressful situations. When you follow your breath, you remain calm, think clearly, and make cool moves. The problem is, remembering to remember. THE ICE VEIL TALES are designed to teach kids how to recognize bullies and get into the habit of taking a deep breath when encountering one.
As the stories begin, Kiki Levant, a 10 year old from New Jersey, feels sad and neglected. Her overly critical and cruel parents favor her sister. She has, therefore, lost her sense of self-respect and joy. While ice skating in Central Park, she spins around so fast, she twirls into another world called, Ice Dreamland. Like an Avatar, she meets and merges with Cocovanilla, who looks like an upside down ice cream cone with arms and legs.
Cocovanilla must fulfill the Oracle of Rising Queens which states, when 12 moons rise over Ice Dreamland, girls from towns, cities, countries, stars, and planets across the universe will rise up and bring joy and prosperity to all. To accomplish this feat, Cocovanilla and her pal, Crunch, must outwit and triumph over 12 types of bullies.
The archetypal bullies include; a disgruntled grouch, a merry mischief maker, a wicked wizard, a mean witch, a demon dawg, sadistic sisters, a greedy ogre, and an egomaniacal emperor who prefers she remain miserable so bullies can continue to rule. She overcomes each one when she remembers to “inhale, exhale, and trust the Ice Veil.” When she forgets and allows herself to succumb to stress, things get complicated. But then she remembers and VICTORY!
When she returns to New York, her life transforms outside because she has transformed herself within.
