Children’s author Sybil Goodman proves that dreams do come true. A storyteller at heart for as long as she can remember, it wasn’t until an assignment from her writing course and a melty chocolate ice cream trip to the park with her grandson together prompted an idea—a story about a magical place where lovable candy characters live and play. The result is her delightfully sweet picture book series, The Candy Friends Adventures, a dream that has come to fruition for this creative grandmother.
Sybil’s story ideas are inspired by the world around her, whether it’s children playing or riding a bike, trees swaying in the wind, beautifully colored flowers, or even insects crawling around. She believes a great children’s story is one that has a magical quality with fantasy and make-believe, a world where it’s safe to pretend and have imaginary friends. Sybil wants her stories to create occasions for parents and children to read together and escape into secret worlds of imagination, and that this memory of togetherness stays with them long after the book is closed.
Hailing from Long Island, New York, when she isn’t writing imaginative tales for children, Sybil enjoys cooking and baking for family and friends, reading, taking hikes, traveling and exploring new places. She is involved in several philanthropic organizations such as Soles 4 Souls which facilitates the collection and distribution of gently worn and new shoes to those in need. She has also enjoyed being the president of several organizations such as the Mothers of Twins Club, as the mother of twin daughters herself. The Candy Friends Adventures, a collaboration with her son, debuted with two titles, Chocolate Mountain Lake and The Ice Palace.
