Overview

In Book 3 "The Holy Wars". The family continues to thrive, as Poland lives in a rare time of peace. The Andruszko family's representatives in foreign lands go on making new friends in their political adventures. In 1103, Boleslaw III saves the family's honor from the disgrace of one of Mieclaw's treachery. The family's own daughter, Olga, kills Mieclaw with her bow. Boleslaw unites the family universally by changing their name to Andruszkowicz. The four patriarchs — Damian, Pawel, Bartolmiej, and Tomasz are dubbed 'Counts' of Poland by royal decree. This act fuels the next generation to do greater deeds of valor for their family and country. It is a time when the Christian and the Muslim worlds are in conflict. Young Bartolmiej forges a new friendship with the Diaz family of Vivar. As instructor to the young Diaz's son, he helps to direct a new leader and savior of Spain. He will be known as the "Cid."

Thirteen members of the family's next generation join the Holy Crusade in Jerusalem. However, their mission was not to wage war against the Saracens but rather to rescue their cousin Sabastian, his family, friends, and as many Christians, Jews, and Muslims from the city before the deluge of death engulfs Jerusalem. The Franks and Germans have a reputation for creating a blood lust in the cities they've conquered.

Two young Polish women warriors are among the Polish Crusaders. They prove to fight more fiercely than their male counterparts. Two unlikely romances develops amidst all the violence. One ends in happiness and the other in sorrow.
