About the Author

Bryan D. Hall, M.D. and Nelson H. Gullett were born and grew up in Paintsville, Kentucky. As youngsters they spent most of their free time playing golf on the Paintsville Golf Course, which their uncle, Dr. Paul B. Hall, had built on their granddaddy Hall's farmland. They also played on the Paintsville High School golf team (Hall 1955-1957, Gullett 1959-1963). Hall went on to play golf for 4 years at the University of Louisville and Gullett for 4 years at Morehead State University. Doctor Hall went to the University of Louisville Medical School and the Louisville Children's Hospital. He did a fellowship in dysmorphology (birth defects) at the University of Washington-Seattle and had professorships at the University of California-San Francisco and the University of Kentucky. He retired in 2002 and moved to Mt Pleasant, South Carolina in 2014 where he became a Senior Scholar at the Greenwood Genetic Center in Greenwood, S.C. Since 2002 he has been on the board of the Paul B. Hall Foundation.
Mister Gullett obtained a BA in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER) in 1969 from Morehead State University. After short stints in the army and at Flat Gap High School and Meade Memorial High School, he joined Johnson Central High School (JCHS) in 1973 where he stayed until retirement in 2008. He taught Health and Physical Education and was department head for a while. Nelson coached the boy's golf team for 28 years not including a 2 year (2014-2015) stint where he came out of retirement to temporarily fill the coaching position. He also assisted his wife, Cathy Gullett, in coaching the JCHS girl's golf team. Both he and his wife put on an annual summer boy and girl teaching golf clinics. Nelson is a collector of golf memorabilia and antiques, which was particularly useful in the preparation of this book. He is also a member of the Paul B. Hall Foundation and serves on the Paintsville City Golf Board.
