This entertaining narration by Kathleen McInerney will engage listeners craving a contemporary mystery. Georgia attorney Brooke Trappnell is called to meet ailing Josephine Bettendorf Warrick, a 90-year-old millionaire who lives on a small island. Josephine hires Brooke to protect her assets from falling into the wrong hands upon her death. Through Brooke, she also wants to reach out to the only other living member of The High Tide Club, a group formed by Josephine and her three closest friends in their youth. It seems like a simple enough task; however, the club is also chained to an unsolved murder during the 1930s. McInerney captures the story’s colorful characters and themes. This is best recommended to those seeking a light historical mystery or an unconventional tale of friendship. G.M. © AudioFile 2018, Portland, Maine
