Barbara C Talbot was born into what is now known as "The Greatest Generation." The term was coined by journalist Tom Brokaw to describe "the generation who grew up in the United States during the deprivation of The Great Depression, and then went on to fight in World War II, as well as those whose productivity within the war's home front made a decisive material contribution to the war effort." During the first twenty-one years of her life, all the events of the time - The Great Depression, World War II and the Cold War were swirling around her. Trying to put things into perspective with some historical asides, this is the way she lived her everyday life, growing up in East Boston, during that time.
