Overview

Fifteen-year-old Freya might as well have been carved out of the mountain she calls home. She's resourceful, and stubborn as a snapping turtle. Despite her disability, Freya learned to live off the land and care for her blind grandpa. Winters on the mountain are getting worse though, and the town might not make it through this one. Others more able bodied can flee to the South, but Freya knows her grandpa can't make the journey. She's determined to find a way to continue surviving on the mountain, no matter what risks she must take. Old folks say the harsh winter is all because of the giant, a giant so powerful it can control the weather. Freya's not sure if a girl with a limp can kill the giant and save her town, but she's going to try.
