The Gifts - Part 1: A Dramatic Story of the Magi's Gifts and Their Dangerous Journey to Find the Christ Child
Will you be an "Ish Habinayim" and a gift to others? "Ish Habinayim" is an ancient Hebrew term for one who stands in the gap for others. The term was manifested by one soldier representing an army in one-on-one combat with another combatant representing an enemy army. David, the shepherd boy, was an "Ish Habinayim" while representing the Israelite army against the enemy champion, Goliath, in a one-on-one combat. As God's gift to mankind, Jesus is an "Ish Habinayim" standing in the gap between God and man's sin. Just as our Savior is a gift and an "Ish Habinayim" to each of us, God challenges us to be the same to others. This ancient Hebrew principle is one of the many themes heroically appearing in The Gifts as the three Magi, or Wisemen, make their perilous journey to find the Christ Child and to give him their important, valuable gifts of Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh. The Gifts is a dramatic, edge of your seat account of Roman Bethlehem, of the Christ child's birth, of the three Magis' collection and transportation of their significant gifts, and of the Magi's perilous journey to Bethlehem and beyond. Each gift has a symbolic and a specific purpose for the Christ child and which has the same symbolic meaning for us in Provision, Purpose, and Preservation. From the Roman soldier's sharp "Gladius" sword pressed against the chin of the pregnant Mary at a Roman census post in Bethlehem along a road lined with bloody crucifixions to the attempted assassination of the infant, Jesus, by King Herod's double agent, the intense drama and rich historical detail in The Gifts is riveting and informative. "Ish Habinayim" appears throughout The Gifts: from Joseph who courageously stands in the gap with Mary who is pregnant with "another's" child; to a heroic Roman Legionnaire who saves an important Hebrew woman from Roman death; and to the princely "Magi Legion" who stand in the gap for the Christ child at great peril and expense.

About the Author

Daniel J. Parker is a new author and a small town Attorney living in North Georgia in the United States. He grew up in South Georgia in Moultrie near the Florida line. As a child, he would go to the movies and watch “sword fighting” movies and come home and “sword fight” trees and the “gym set” with a wooden “sword” (stick). He would win each feigned battle. Later his “sword” would be “the law” and “the pen.” This is why The Gifts – Part I is so swashbuckling with numerous sword fights and action. You will learn about the symbolism of the “Angel Wings” gladius sword created by the author. As a reader, you are challenged to be an “Ish Habinayim” and to stand in the gap and protect others. You are further challenged to seek your purpose in life and to give yourself as a gift to God and to others. Other books by the Author include No Wound…No Pearl! © 2013 A Story of Childhood Emotional Wounding and Adult Healing and The Gifts – Part II which is in the works which will continue from the life of Jesus in Egypt to the cross and beyond.
