Overview

What is giftedness and why does it matter in today's world? When most of us think of giftedness, we think of a person with advanced intellectual ability which is above that of his or her peers. Some definitions include creativity and intensity. All gifted children are not alike, not even within the same family. The experiences of gifted children vary greatly depending on their personality and environment. I was one of those gifted children, but I was unaware of it. All I knew was that I saw the world differently than my classmates. When I did find out, a teacher asked me to keep it a secret. I grew up and had three gifted children and learned more than I ever wanted to know about giftedness. Read my family's touching story of the different faces of giftedness. You may find your face or the face of your child. Learn some tips to help your gifted child reach his or her potential.
