Overview

In 1938 Emily Bowman moves to a new city with her family, hoping to make a fresh start for herself and her sister. She finds solace in a young man who makes her feel protected and safe. However, she knows deep down inside that the relationship could never last because her father has a dark secret and threatens to keep them apart. She chooses to keep him at arm's length until her life is put in danger and he comes to her rescue. He vows to keep her and her sister safe at all costs. Until the second world war starts and he knows he must leave them and fight for his country. The unspeakable happens and suddenly Emily's love Justin is ripped away from her.
