About the Author

Author Shaun Gullett is an accomplished martial arts expert having trained under the best. His disabilities as a young child helps him offer a unique path for success for children with similar challenges.

It is through martial arts that Shaun was able to overcome many of life’s obstacles growing up. Shaun has his own challenges, having been born with a disability that would prevent him from walking until he was five years old. His own mother began teaching him martial arts while he was still unable to walk to help him gain the strength that he would need and to protect himself from any threats that he might encounter. His disability led to his own feelings of not being able to fit in. But as he learned the art, he was able to channel his feelings towards positive responses. His popularity grew and gained the respect of many friends.

Shaun realized that his grandson Anthony needed to learn the art to help overcome challenges that he faces in life. Shaun began teaching Anthony Martial Arts. As Anthony learned the art, each lesson on technical moves came with lessons on emotional and self-control. Anthony learned to respect others as well as himself and to respect all living creatures and the environment that we all live in.

After a few short years, Anthony’s techniques began to show and his confidence level rose. Anthony’s circle of friends began to grow, and he began to succeed in school. But one thing was still lacking, and Grandpa realized that it was Anthony’s imagination.

With all the hurdles that Anthony faces each day Shaun begins to realize that Anthony needed to open his imagination to deal with life's difficulties. Everyday Shaun started telling Anthony bedtime stories. It was his way of bonding with his grandson and helping Anthony face his daily challenges as a boy with ADHD. His bedtime stories always began the same way. He begins with a gentle reminder of the last bedtime story told the prior night.
