When her friend Mark is found dead in a seedy motel and the police call it an accidental overdose, billionaire Avery Turner knows they're wrong. Mark treated his body like a temple and would never use narcotics. He was searching for the General's Gold, so Avery, her ally and assistant Harrison, and deep-sea diver Carter Mosley embark on an exhilarating treasure hunt while trying to avoid certain death. Carter discovers underwater wrecks and shares his finds on social media rather than pillage them for loot. Avery goes on a dive with Carter, but they don't realize that this sunken vessel has attracted interest from more than just sightseers and the mildly curious. Avery, Harrison, and Carter end up knee-deep in a conspiracy, and quest, that they will be lucky to survive. VERDICT This series starter from co-authors Walker (Nichelle Clarke and "Texas Ranger Faith McClellan" series) and Coffin ("Detective Byron Mysteries") is a fun and engaging story with extraordinary characters. It's is a perfect read for fans of Clive Cussler, especially those who enjoy his Fargo series.—Jeff Ayers
