Overview

Director and author Peter Garrity have created a biopic on a pair of eccentric scientists, Igor and George Gamow, who in the late 1960's were both professors at the University of Colorado. Their scientific contributions spans a wide range from George Gamow's "Big Bang Theory" of the universe to Igor's creation of the Gamow Bag, an invention that has become an indispensable piece of equipment in high altitude mountaineering. From George's daring escape from Russia to Igor's early career as a ballet dancer, it is the story of two adventurous men. Included is a rare interview with Edward Teller, the inventor of the H-Bomb and George's motorcycle riding companion, as well as George's work with the other scientific greats such as Niels Bohr and Ernest Rutherford. Included in the bonus section is a lovely romantic poem, with beautiful photographic illustrations, written by Rho, Igor's mother, when she was a teen age girl in Moscow in 1928. A companion book by the same title, "The Galloping Gamows," is also available.
