Overview

Mia’s grandmother has been dead for years. So when Mia finds a gift from her — a beautiful pendant and a distressing note — that’s odd enough. Soon after, Mia’s dreams become haunted by a long-forgotten friend in desperate need of help.

Mia’s previously ordinary world becomes a fascinating and dangerous place, full of powerful magic and ruthless people. And everyone seems to either want something from her, or to want to do something to her.

But Mia is not helpless. As she discovers the strange parallel world, she learns she has unique abilities and power of her own. The question is, will she learn to control these powers — and find out whom she can trust — in time?

About the Author

Susan Nelson was a scholarship art student, a jewelry designer, a photo editor, a magazine columnist, a mom to four children (two boys and twin girls), and a wife. And she did all these things before breast cancer — already treated once — came back and ultimately took Susan’s life when she was only 42 years old.

As cancer invaded Susan’s bones, liver, lungs, and eventually brain, making it more and more difficult for her to live a normal life, she refused to sit and do nothing.

Between chemotherapy and radiation treatments, Susan raised thousands of dollars with her jewelry for cancer charities, took care of her family, and raced to write this novel. And while cancer took Susan’s life before she could write the final chapter — which would set the stage for the follow-up book — it was still an accomplishment she was justifiably proud of, and she would be excited to know you are reading it.
