Description: This is the sixth edition of a book designed to help primary care physicians focus on an office visit. Previous editions of The Fifteen Minute Hour have come with a variety of subtitles, such as "Therapeutic Talk in Primary Care" and "Practical Therapeutic Intervention in Primary Care." The fifth edition was published in 2015.
Purpose: This book provides strategies for clinicians to stay focused on the issues the patient wishes to discuss while continuing to obtain the needed information for diagnosis and treatment.
Audience: The audience is young clinicians and older, more experienced practitioners who are coping with shorter office visit times and crowed schedules.
Features: The book continues to expound on the BATHE concept (Background situation, patient Affect, what is most Troubling for the patient, how the patient is Handling the problem, and the physician's Empathy).
