About the Author

Austin Bartolo is a horror fiction author. His work, Killer Instinct, is about two Airmen trying to get away with murder and is forthcoming in Fall/Winter 2015 by publisher, The Stray Branch. Austin’s love for horror fiction began with the movie classics Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street. His excitement for telling scary tales was reinforced by reading fiction from horror masters Stephen King and Clive Barker. All of these influences provided Austin with a strong foundation in horror fiction.

While serving his county, Austin pursued his dream of becoming a commissioned officer. Austin earned his BS in Computer Science from Chapman University in 1997 and three years later he was accepted into the prestigious Officer Training School. Austin knew that all good officers wrote well, so he honed his writing skills throughout his officership.

As an officer, Austin managed many facets of communications. During his tour of duty at Scott AFB in Illinois, he was accepted to the Air Force Institute of Technology where he earned his MS in Computer Systems in 2004. Over the next six years, Austin continued to strengthen his verbal and written communication skills. As he traveled the world, he documented his experiences to one day use them in his storytelling.

After hanging his Air Force hat for the last time in 2010, Austin pursued his professional writing career by earning his BFA in Creative Writing for Entertainment from Full Sail University in September 2014. His goal is to entertain horror fiction fans by creating stories that infuse his military perspective with his life experiences and twisting them into bloodcurdling situations.
