About the Author

Dick Rothschild’s breadth of experience, as commandant of a war criminal stockade in the South Pacific in World War ll, father of four boys, marketer, inventor and entrepreneur, and his loss of a spouse and two sons, have provided him with the insights needed to create this gripping novella.

THE END GAME’s authentic flesh and blood characters, Bob Rosenbaum and Coco Cipriani embody strength of character and sense of humor partly borrowed from the author’s own.

Though life’s demands directed him to other enterprises for many years, Dick Rothschild retained an unquenchable love of writing. It sprouted in columns for the freshman paper at Yale, advertising copy written during his sales and marketing career and finally blossomed on retirement when, after completing a writer’s correspondence course, he freelanced articles for a dozen national periodicals including American Health, The Writer and The Saturday Evening Post.

On moving to the South Shore of Massachusetts, Dick took up journalism. His column, “To Your Health” for The Old Colony chain of newspapers became the basis for his first book, “Your Health & Fitness, simple sensible strategies.” A growing interest in the environment then lead him to co-found the hometown volunteer advocacy group, Sustainable Duxbury, and to begin a newspaper column for The Duxbury Clipper titled “Thinking Green.”

After writing the column for almost a decade, the idea for the novella, THE END GAME began bubbling up. It took the better part of three years to realize it.

Dick and Olga, his wife of 35 years and their beloved pet, Cat Ballou, live in a seaside mid-century contemporary house which the couple built on Kingston Bay. On a mooring behind the house is their little cat boat, El Gato which has been given a bit part in the novella.
