About the Author

Casimir Stryienski (1853-1912) wrote several histories of France, a study of Maria Josepha of Saxony, and Soirées du Stendhal Club. He also edited The Memoirs of the Countess Potocka. He was accepted into the Académie des Sciences Morales et Politiques of the Institute of France—a rare distinction for a foreigner in France.
