Description: This is the ninth edition of a well-written basic guide to interpreting ECGs. It is clear and concise, a very quick read, with great examples. The digital version allows readers to access material online if desired. The previous edition was published in 2013.
Purpose: The purpose is to introduce beginners to the basics of ECG interpretation and provide important tips/tricks to bear in mind when reading ECGs. This condensed book presents only basic level information; it does not go into advanced ECG interpretation or detail. This makes the book a very quick read and it lays a good foundation. The online format is an exact replica of the print version and therefore is useful for individuals who prefer a digital version.
Audience: This is a useful resource for beginning students or physicians in training interested in understanding ECGs and putting them into clinical context.
Features: The nine chapters are grouped into four main parts or sections. Each chapter provides a simple, practical approach to the interpretation of normal and abnormal electrical activity of the heart. Clear ECG illustrations are provided for each example.
Assessment: This is a great resource for beginners. The book has a user-friendly design/format which makes it simple to look up and access information regarding basic components of ECG interpretation. The explanations are clear and concise.
