My name is Steven Anton Butler, and I often refer to myself as S.A.B.--a nickname created from the abbreviation of my birth name. I studied photography through a distant learning course at Stratford Career Institute, and I frequently post nature photos on my Instagram, Twitter, and various other social media outlets in order to gain exposure. I'm currently preparing to return to college in order to obtain an associates degree in English. My passion for literature was first ignited through poetry. William Blake's Proverbs of Hell is an all time favorite of mine; I don't imitate his style, yet I am heavily inspired by his verse. Hints of Blake's influence are found here and there within my work. My favorite Novelist are Collete, James Baldwin, Ransom Riggs, Oscar Wilde, and many others. I don't stick to one style in anything I do. So I often refer to myself as simply a writer/ photographer. Current themes within my work are sexuality, self love, betrayal, race, and gender identity. I am an openly gay, African American male, and I am very fond of studying other cultures, and the different aspects of other men and women within my community. I support sexual fluidity frequently in my work as well. I tend to write about characters who express bisexuality quite often. I try to leave myself open to whatever idea comes my way in writing; if it fits, it fits I say. I'm all about whatever feels right in my work. As a self proclaimed art junkie, and avid reader: I use photography and writing as a creative outlet for many things that go on in my life; whether happy or sad. My creativity stems from whatever state of mind I happen to be in at the time. Photography and writing is just how I express myself creatively.
