About the Author

About The Author

Daniel Keyes (1927 ¿ 2014), the author of the fascinating and heartbreaking Flowers for Algernon, was inspired by his experience teaching English to students with special needs. Beginning as a short story in The Magazine of Fantasy of Science Fiction, it was originally rejected by five publishers because Keyes refused to change the ending. It was adapted into the 1968 movie, Charly.
