On a bucket-list trip to India with her son Jake, Barbara is beckoned into a small shop, where she finds an intricately carved totem. Drawn to the item as well as the story the shopkeeper tells her, she purchases the item as a conversation piece. An argument with her bored, disaffected son later that day leads Barbara to casually comment that she wishes she had his life. Waking the next morning, the two find that the totem has caused Barbara's wish to come true. Now, mother and son try to find a way to get back to their own bodies while fighting the unusual feelings the switch has caused, as well as their own growing, forbidden desires.
