Overview

The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath, a novella, features Randolph Carter, who is a recurring protagonist in H.P. Lovecraftís works. This was the third work in which Carter was featured. Carter, who is something of a mystic, has a dream when he was a child, which recurs three times, in which he envisions a beautiful sunset city. He is never quite able to see where it is and his dreams do not give him any clues. Carter decides as an adult that he must absolutely find and visit the city, convinced that it exists somewhere.

This book is annotated and includes a critical essay and biography about the life and times of H.P. Lovecraft is also included with this book.

Howard Phillips Lovecraft (1890-1937), commonly known as H. P. Lovecraft, was an American author known for his works of horror fiction (many of which have been adapted into movies). Having died in obscure poverty, he achieved posthumous fame for his books and stories. Today, he is best known for his take on The Call of Cthulhu. Because of his influence on contemporary writers and the development of his unique style known as "Lovecraftian," he is often compared to Edgar Allan Poe.
