Overview

Winfred Marcel Peppinck was born in The Hague on 2 January 1946 which makes him one of the world's very first 'baby boomers' and embarked on a life as rich in colour and variety, as his writings. After emigrating at the age of two with his parents to the Dutch East Indies, he subsequently found himself in Perth, Western Australia in 1951. After finishing high school, and following in the footsteps of his journalist father, he began his career as a 'copyboy' for the West Australian newspaper a daily paper known by many as The Worst Australian because of its often jingoistic, parochial style. His love of writing was nurtured by his love for a very attractive journalist, who persuaded him to sit for mature aged entry to the University of Western Australia and after winning a scholarship, graduated in 1971, with an Honours Degree in Politics, specializing in guerrilla warfare!
Winfred began a new career path in the rarefied world of international diplomacy as a Foreign Affairs Trainee with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs in 1975. A number of international diplomatic postings ensued, including spells in Brazil, South Africa, Uganda and Indonesia, before being appointed as the Senior Adviser to three different Presidents of the Australian Senate from 1990 to 1999. After three years as Australian Ambassador to the Caribbean, he became an Advisor to the Prime Minister's Court in Bahrain, the country which he and his wife Wendy, currently call home.
