This book is set in the year 2065 depicting degrading conditions in the earth's ecosystems and the ensuing social stress that could result as different factions compete for progressively scarce resources. The story begins with an attempted assassination of a prominent petroleum executive by an unidentified assailant and unfolds through the lives of a group of environmental activists working in various parts of the world. It traces personal events which help to radicalize these individuals from the US, Europe and Africa coalescing them into a makehift environmental revolutionary group. The story culminaties with impending war between the US and China in a struggle for adequate agricultural land and water to feed the burgeoning populations. The main message of the book is that human activity with its progressive natural resource depletion and degradation of the environment is altering the fundamental natural balances on which life depends and upon which human society is built. Human populations continue to explode with more and more people adopting modern high-consumption lifestyles accelerating the destructive forces. We continue to be driven by greed and ignore the warning signs from nature, focused instead on short-term political and economic issues at our peril.
This work is intended to provoke thought about how human society functions, on our fundamental values and drives through a description of one possible future scenario. I believe that this subject is both important and popular in today's society
