Overview

A tropical storm named Jason transforms Chief Deputy Sheriff Conor Gifford’s peaceful October evening into a veritable hell. Jason unleashes hurricane strength winds and horizontal rain on an unprepared Loudoun County. Under the cover of Jason’s wrath, a killer strikes five times in six short hours. His victims include a world famous billionaire, a high tech millionaire, a local developer, a simple realtor and the Chairman of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors. Gifford, the Chief of the Loudoun Sheriff Department’s Investigation Division, and his ten man detective squad confront a serial killer who leaves few clues. After determining that the five murders are linked, Gifford and his detectives have to fend off the FBI’s inept attempt to manage their investigation. This brings Gifford into direct conflict with a former girl friend, the beautiful but ambitious Inspector Tracey Schultz. Charlotte Peters, the sexy widow of one of the victims, knows more than she tells. Before Gifford can master the complex case, the killer takes another victim, a local judge. Despite the media pressure and complicated mix of personal relationships, Gifford finally uncovers the one clue that lets him identify the killer.
