Overview

Since I was six years old, I had to put my hair up in a bun with pins for dance class. The pins would always fall out on to the floor when I danced. When I was 12, I designed a way to put my hair up without pins, The Weave. That’s how I got into the braid business. I wrote this book on braids because I wanted to share my ideas about braiding hair. This year, I decided to write this book to demonstrate how to braid hair in exotic ways. I love to create new braids and plan to continue making new braids for my second edition.

You can also create your own braids. Parting your hair in different ways can make braids look completely different. Try weaving extra hair or putting the excess hair in a ponytail. Braiding is fun. These braids look fancy but actually are quite simple to do. With these easy instructions, you can create beautiful braids. By using your new braiding skills, you can create amazing braids yourself!

*This book is great for teens, moms, hairstylists, models and more!

About the Author

I have had long hair (39”) ever since I can remember. Since I was six years old, I had to put my hair up in a bun with pins for dance class. The pins would always fall out on to the floor when I danced. When I was 12, I designed a way to put my hair up without pins, The Weave. That’s how I got into the braid business.

I am 13 years old and an 8th grader at Merit Academy. I wrote this book on braids because I wanted to share my ideas about braiding hair. Last year in business class, I started my own videography business. This year, I decided to write this book to demonstrate how to braid hair in exotic
ways. I have created many varieties of braids. Every weekend for the past year, I have invited my friends over for a slumber party, where I would create new braids. I learned how to take digital photographs of my braids using a digital camera. I put the digital photos into my braid book and laid out each page using Adobe PageMaker. Then I wrote the specific instructions for each braid design. I decided to use photographs in my book to help the readers who learn best from visual aids.

I also started contacting book publishers in the United States and found that most of these publishers didn’t publish, but distributed books. If I can’t find a publisher, I will self-publish it. I’m sure my book will do well because lately, famous actors, singers, and models are wearing their hair in cool braids. I hope they’ll wear some of my braid designs too! I love to create new braids and plan to continue making new braids for my second edition.
