Bill Cassidy, a young, hot-headed cowpuncher, is between jobs when he interrupts the murderous, thieving plans of two ranch hands, saving the life of the ranch foreman. So begins Cassidy's tenure at the famed Bar-20 ranch. With his husky baritone and smooth delivery, R.C. Bray is the perfect match for Clarence Mulford's seminal Western. The story unfolds episodically, and new characters are regularly introduced. Using a variety of accents and voices, Bray does well at distinguishing new characters while maintaining the continuity of the familiar cast. Reflecting the feminine archetype, the handful of female characters are high pitched and breathless. Particularly notable is Bray's adeptness with the authentic and colorful dialogue, whether it's jawing between cowpunchers or heated encounters involving six-shooters.
