About the Author

George Douglas Gehr is a Church of the Brethren Pastor, author, and historian. He is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Historical Society of the Cocalico Valley and the Ephrata Cloister Associates. He has several ancestors who were members of the Ephrata Cloister, and he currently serves as a tour guide there. Gehr has an interest in the clock making history of Lancaster County and of the Ephrata Cloister, in particular. He has written multiple books and magazine articles on this topic. A native of Ephrata, Gehr continues to live there with his wife.
