About the Author

Harry K. Wong has authored more than forty publications including the best-selling book ever in education, THE First Days of School. He has been credited with transforming schools and turning around the lives of hundreds of thousands of educators for immediate success in their schools and classrooms. He has been called “Mr. Practicality” for his common sense, research-based, no cost approach to managing a classroom for high level student success.

Because of his achievements, Harry has received numerous awards including the Horace Mann Outstanding Educator Award and the Valley Forge Teacher’s Medal. He’s been the subject of a story in Reader’s Digest and was given the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Teachers Hall of Fame. He’s been called the “Rock Star of Education.”

He is a former secondary science teacher and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, Rosemary.

Rosemary T. Wong is the CEO of Harry K. Wong Publications and the driving force behind the development of the company’s educational books and tools aimed at improving the effectiveness of teachers. She is the co-author of all of their products.

Her classroom experience includes teaching in grades one through eight, in a self-contained gifted and talented program, opening up a media center in a middle school, as well as serving as the student activities director. Her success in the classroom led to her being chosen as the first mentor teacher in her school district in California.

Profits from the sale of the book, THE First Days of School, fund The First Days of School Foundation. The nonprofit has built and funds the 960 student Wong Mean Reth Learning Campus in the remote jungles of Cambodia. Her work in education along with her many non-profit activities has earned her recognition and respect from around the world.

Together, Harry and Rosemary form an unstoppable team as new teacher advocates, motivational speakers, and inspirational leaders. Colleagues have described them as connectors, angels, gurus, encouragers, cheerleaders, and rock stars who are enthusiastic, down-to-earth, patient, kind, giving, and real. Above all else, they are teachers—always have been, always will be. They have devoted their lives to creating effective teachers for the students of the world.
