About the Author

Glen G. Scorgie (Ph.D., St. Andrews) is professor of theology at Bethel Seminary San Diego since 1996. Previously he was academic vice-president of North American Baptist College in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and is a past president of the Canadian Evangelical Theological Association. For the past decade he has also been involved in the ministries of Chinese Bible Church of San Diego, and lectures regularly in Asia. Mark L. Strauss (Ph D, Aberdeen) is university professor of New Testament at Bethel Seminary, where he has served since 1993. His books include Four Portraits, One Jesus; How to Read the Bible in Changing Times; The Essential Bible Companion; and commentaries on Mark and Luke. He also serves as vice chair of the Committee on Bible Translation for the New International Version translation.

Steven Voth (Ph D, Hebrew Union College) is Translation Coordinator for the Americas, United Bible Societies.

Kenneth L. Barker (Ph D, Dropsie College for Hebrew and Cognate Learning) is an author, lecturer, biblical scholar, and the general editor of the NIV Study Bible.

D. A. Carson is research professor of New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. He has been at Trinity since 1978. Carson came to Trinity from the faculty of Northwest Baptist Theological Seminary in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he also served for two years as academic dean. He has served as assistant pastor and pastor and has done itinerant ministry in Canada and the United Kingdom. Carson received the Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Mc Gill University, the Master of Divinity from Central Baptist Seminary in Toronto, and the Doctor of Philosophy in New Testament from the University of Cambridge. Carson is an active guest lecturer in academic and church settings around the world. He has written or edited about sixty books. He is a founding member and currently president of The Gospel Coalition.

The Reverend Dr. Dick France was a New Testament scholar and Aglican cleric. He was Principal of Wycliffe Hall Oxford from 1989 to 1995. He also worked for the London School of Theology.

Dr. Andreas Kostenberger is theologian in residence at Fellowship Raleigh, cofounder of Biblical Foundations, and author, editor, or translator of over sixty books. He and his wife Marny have four grown children and live in North Carolina.

Douglas J. Moo (Ph D, St. Andrews) is professor of New Testament emeritus at Wheaton College.

Moisés Silva taught biblical studies at Westmont College, Westminster Theological Seminary, and Gordon-Conwell Seminary. He is the author or coauthor of eight books and the revising editor of the Zondervan Encyclopedia of the Bible.

James D. Smith III (Th D, Harvard) is associate professor of Church History at Bethel Seminary – San Diego, as well an adjunct professor of religion at the University of San Diego. A member of the Baptist General Conference, he is a former teaching assistant to Henri Nouwen at Harvard, and lectures frequently on Nouwen’s spirituality and related topics.

Professor John Stek is an associate editor of the TNIV Study Bible. He is professor emeritus of Calvin Theological Seminary, and past Chair of the Committee on Bible Translation, which he has served since 1965. He lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Bruce K. Waltke (Ph D, Dallas Theological Seminary; Ph D, Harvard Divinity School), acknowledged to be one of the outstanding contemporary Old Testament scholars, is professor of Old Testament at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida, and professor emeritus of biblical studies at Regent College in Vancouver. He has authored and coauthored numerous books, commentaries, and articles, and contributed to dictionaries and encyclopedias.

Walter W. Wessel was professor of New Testament and Greek studies at Bethel Theological Seminary. He received his Ph D from the Universtiy of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Herbert Wolf was associate professor of theological studies at Wheaton College, Illinois. His area of expertise was Old Testament studies. Dr. Wolf held degrees from Wheaton College, Dallas Seminary, and Brandeis University. He was the author of Haggai and Malachi: Redemption and Renewal.
