Grown Up Day! - The students in Mrs. Buchan's class invite all the grown ups in their lives and they tell the stories of what they love about their families. With family dynamics ranging from same sex couples, multi-racial couples, single parents and extended family, this story will expose your children to the different types of dynamics that can exist in the households of their best buddies from school.
Career Day! - The students have local community members come in and introduce what jobs they do and how those jobs contribute to the community at large. The jobs range from careers in healthcare, professional jobs that require education to trade work and farming that will help your little ones know that everyone plays a part in the world that we live in and the world is their oyster.
Uniform Day! - Mrs. Buchan's class learns about the branches of the military and meet veterans and active members to learn more about what they do to protect us. This story helps kids learn what each branch of the military is, what it means to be a veteran and why veterans are celebrated in a way that doesn't create fear. What does each branch do and how and where do they protect the citizens of our country? This story is perfect to help little ones learn about US military for their friends from military families.
STEAM Day! - The students are back at it learning more than ever about what STEAM education is and all the elements of it. STEAM/STEM is a growing instructional methodology that gives the children of tomorrow more opportunity than we could have imagined. Science, technology, engineering, arts and math can all be exciting concepts to trigger the imagination of your little ones while reading together.
