Overview

Can this Dish be Saved?
That all depends. Chances are it can, as long as it's not burned. For example: If a cake appears to be "overdone", place the "cooled" cake on a cutting board and trim the edges, the top, and the bottom if necessary. Now all you have is a beautiful cake. Another example is if you're mixing ingredients in a bowl and it's either too dry or too wet, just add more of what ingredients are needed (already listed in the recipe) to give it the consistency you desire, i.e., more flour, more water, more milk an extra egg or more oats. Be creative.
Also, pans can be deceiving. Try using a different pan if the mixture is too much or too little. Temperatures can also be tricky. Use your best judgement. Check on your dish periodically; see how it's doing and make the necessary assessments. Also, covering with foil while baking will eliminate burning. The worst thing that can happen is maybe you created something new that you didn't expect, which turned into something special. Stay open-minded is key to saving a dish.
It gives me great pleasure to share my love for food that is not only delicious, easy to prepare, and artistic but also a lifestyle. A routine where you work with what you have, and you'll never go hungry; even on a "shoestring budget."
In this book, you will learn how to:
• keep a well-organized/well-stocked pantry according to your signature favorites;
• how to store food with zero waste;
• stretch your dollar much farther than you could imagine;
• entertain like a pro; and much, much more...

About the Author

Tina Glover, born in Sacramento, California; raised an Air Force brat; and traveled all over the United States. Eventually returned back to California in 1978 to pursue a music career. Twenty-three years later, she moved to Boston where her parents are originally from; to be with her family; and start a new life. That’s where the joy of cooking really started. Being on an extreme budget, she discovered some amazing dishes and really enjoyed delicious food on a “shoe-string” budget. Thus, the beginning of the “Budget Gourmet, a Handbook for the Survival Chef.”
