About the Author

S.A. Khadir, preferably referred to by the moniker Khadir, is an evocative and profound prosaist, a part-time writer, a literary aficionado, and a self-proclaimed “conscious enigma” above all else.

Growing up with an adoration of literature, largely accredited to her aunt, Khadir spent most of her time reading and learning about various Black novelists, poets, and writers. Although familiar with the works of eminent writers like June Jordan and Toni Morrison, It wasn’t until high school that Khadir began to explore more world literature, discovering and appreciating the works of authors like Chinua Achebe, Ijeoma Umebinyuo, Octavio Paz, Cristaine Sobral, and Sandra Cisneros, to name a few.

Often feeling inscrutable in an emotionally impassive household, Khadir often turned to writing as a means of release and expression. It was in her writing that Khadir began to discover her voice and explore her literary identity as a writer. Khadir’s writing and introspection is a erudite mirage of lyricism and composition, offering her readers an in-depth plunge into the abyss of her psyche–a safe haven for readers to reflect on and process their own emotions.

It comes as no surprise, then, that with the release of her debut book, The Browns and Oranges (2023), Khadir shares the underpins in her life, from intimate connections to inner conflict, from self-discovery to self-acceptance. The book and its execution, which spanned the duration of three years, is described as being a therapeutic release for Khadir.
