THE BREATH OF GOD
In 1977 a scared teenaged girl chose to give her unborn child the chance to live. That unborn child was me. She did not plan to be a mother at 16. She searched herself, her heart, her faith. She had all the reasons to end my life with abortion, and still she did not. My mother embraced my life, however difficult that was at times and never looked back. Her choice of life resonates in my very being; her choice of life carries through my very laughter and tears; her choice of life now twinkles in the eyes of my own three children and glows in the arms of my loving husband. Her choice, my life, continues forward towards the future. Her choice, my life, my breath, my heart, and now even the newest life that has grown within my womb. That scared 16-year-old girl from 1977 has become a grandmother again. Thank you so much, Mom, for choosing me.
