About the Author

Dusty Berry, his wife Angela, and his daughter Molly live in Rockwall, Texas. Dusty has been in the Chemical Distribution business for 37 years, and has lived in Texas all his life. Angela is a school teacher and Molly is an 8th grade student.

Dusty enjoys playing golf, boxing, going to the symphony and theater, travel, singing, and staying active in his Church Sunday School Class. Dusty was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2008, but had symptoms of the disease from 5-10 years earlier. He had Deep Brain Stimulation surgery in 2011 and is living a life today free of tremors and without Parkinson’s medications. He has committed to helping those with the disease whether it be from sharing, speaking, or listening to anyone that needs it. He is active with the Michael J Fox Foundation, local support groups, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Medtronics, and several online Facebook groups.

I read Dusty’s current Book “ The Boxer in You” and although very similar to what I was doing with boxing and eating right, Dusty’s commitment explanations are words of wisdom. Boxing is not a cure for PD, but it is great for surviving until a cure is found. I highly recommend this book and I would encourage all with PD to just get moving and take on exercise as much as the medication you take for the disease.
