Overview

Someone stole the key to the Black Cat Bookstore! Lucky for the store's owner, Mr. Brown, his clever cat, Cobweb, is on the case. Cobweb has a plan to scare the burglar away, and the ghost who lives in the bookstore is happy to help. There's only one problem-the burglar doesn't believe in ghosts. But maybe he'll change his mind once he meets the special ghost who lives in the Black Cat Bookstore.

About the Author

Barbara Maitland is a children’s book author. Her works include The Bookstore Burglar and The Bookstore Ghost. 

Nadine Bernard Westcott has illustrated more than 100 books for young readers, including I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, Big Picnic, Down by the Bay, and Peanut Butter and Jelly, the latter of which she also wrote. Nadine lives in Nantucket, Massachusetts, and divides her time between illustrating and designing her own line of fabrics.

To foil the thief's plans, the feline must enlist the help of the bookstore ghosts (hint: think mice) to haunt away the burglar when he returns at night. Beginning chapter-book readers will delight in knowing what the ghosts really are and in Westcott's colorful illustrations.
