The Birth of Cosmo
This collection of free verse poetry was written during long months of online class in which I seriously thought I was going to lose my sanity. Not being able to go out and socialize gave me more time to question ethics and morals but at what cost? Scribbling through several notebooks, jumping between poems, I wish to present my feelings during that time. Although they may be triggering to some, they are placed here to resonate with those who struggle. I want to bring difficult feelings first so that soon I can show that "happy ending" many people speak of but never really talk about how they got there. I have reached that point, but I will start at rock bottom and go through my vulnerable moments until I reach there.

About the Author

Born in the tropical region of Puerto Rico, Oliver has adopted several names on the pursuit of one that fits the best. Although all sorts of questions formed and new hobbies were made, one thing stayed with him, the arts. He has incredible passion towards sketching, painting, and more recently, making things with clay. Poetry specifically has been a solace during long months of undiagnosed depressive cycles and the years of COVID 19. It started as an assignment in Spanish class but continued as a few notebooks worth of free verse poetry that described his point of view on justice, contemporary issues, mental health, and feeling trapped to a life of despair. “The Birth of Cosmo”, is the first collection published with its purpose to reach an audience that lives in dark times to tell them that they are not alone. As more collections are made, the writings will inch closer to the present, where Oliver can present the continuation of a life that only saw one way out, death. Pursuing a social work degree, Oliver hopes to reach all those who feel alone and tied down to a point that seemingly no one understands. This book marks the beginning of that journey.
