About the Author

Richard Binder is a well known authority on the repair, restoration, and history of fountain pens. His interest in the pens themselves, in the technology that has gone into them over the years, and in the people whose names were engraved on their pens and whose stories he researches, has led him to write an increasing number of books and a website. He is noted for thorough coverage of his topic and an accessible, easy-to-read style.

An amateur historian of World War II, Binder has published a book titled “366 Days of World War II” about the war, and he serves as a living historian/combat photographer during the annual “Battle for the Airfield” re-enactment at the nonprofit Collings Foundation in Hudson, Massachusetts.

When not indulging in his hobbies or writing about them, Binder shares a passion for cooking with his wife Barbara. The couple live in an 1846 New England house that they share with their two Abyssinian cats.
