About the Author

David Cummins is a University of Texas at Austin alumnus where he received degrees in Finance and Chinese. David speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese and spent four years after college working at two start-ups in China in the manufacturing and investment research sectors.

After that, he spent 2.5 years as a venture capitalist at the DFJ Growth Fund, investing in technology companies in the U.S. and China. David now runs a start-up of his own. His background is a prime example of the uniqueness of a career path for a venture capitalist pre-MBA Analyst.

Ankit Garg attended Stanford from 2002 - 2007 and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and a Master’s in Engineering. He has worked at Mckinsey for two years in management consulting and landed a three month internship at Kleiner Perkins. He currently works at Chegg, a start-up textbook rental company, making use of skills gained from consulting and venture capital.

Linus Chung grew up in Silicon Valley, surrounded by burgeoning tech companies. He attended Stanford to study electrical engineering, and eventually turned to Bain, a management consulting company, working for them in their Hong Kong and Silicon Valley offices. After Bain, Linus took a job with Lightspeed Venture Partners, where he could stay close to technology and apply skills he learned in consulting toward startups. He is now working in corporate development at a late-stage venture capital funded company in China.
