The Bee Story
Our generation is facing a global crisis: bee decline at an alarming and unprecedented rate. Bees perform 80% of global food and crop pollination and through past decades commercially managed bee hives have taken significant tolls. In the United States alone, beekeepers lost 45.4% of their honey bee colonies from April 2020 to April 2021, marking the second-highest loss in the industry's history. The future generation of youth community leaders, scientists, engineers, and civil society must come together, now more than ever, to solve this crisis. Atreya Manaswi, a young inventor, speaker, and researcher, brings a didactic and interesting tool for youth to arm themselves with knowledge about our globe's most prized pollinators - bees. Recognized for his work by the US Department of Agriculture, the United Nations, Johnson & Johnson, the World Food Forum, and the Society for Science, this accomplished youth advocate seeks to build upon his experiences and share his knowledge. The Bee Story strives to provide K-12 students with an introduction to the wonderful world of bees and raise awareness about a crisis that threatens our entire planet and its biodiversity.
