About the Author

Bill Morrison is an Eisner Award-winning comic book artist, writer, and art director. He is the co-founder of Bongo Comics, publisher of the hugely successful Simpsons comic range of titles. Bill was additionally Editor of the famous Mad magazine and has worked with Disney and other studios. He recently created a graphic novel adaptation of The Beatles Yellow Submarine.

What is a NERD SEARCH?
It’s a chance to nitpick your favourite stuff! We all adore discussing our top movies and TV shows. Be honest, we even love to find fault with them. Well, here we provide the faults!

This is not your ordinary search-and-find book, but a diabolical test of your nerdular knowledge of your favourite topic. Instead of simply locating lost objects, you have to spot tiny errors that no one but an obsessive super-fan could spot. Let us explain our categories …

Continuity Conundrum
Look out for continuity errors – things that just shouldn’t be there. For example, it could be a Blue Meanie who wasn’t in the scene, or a Beatle wearing the wrong gear. In the Liverpool scene, for example, John should not be walking down the street (it was Ringo) and Jeremy the Boob should not be there at all! It’s easy …

Only A Secret Song
Every spread contains an ingenious visual pun representing a song title from the movie. Take a close look at any quirky character who looks out of place ... they may have a punny reason for being there!

Spot The Motor
Hidden in every scene is the motor from the Yellow Submarine. Be careful, as it can be any size and colour and appear anywhere! In case you don’t recall, this is what it looks like!

Scoring System
To enable you to judge between your friends who is the top Yellow Submarine fan, we have a scoring system. Use your scorecard to keep track of your progress.

CONTINUITY CONUNDRUM: 1 point for each (five on each spread).
ONLY A SECRET SONG: 2 points (one on each spread).
SPOT THE MOTOR: 1 point (one on each spread).

That’s a maximum of 8 points per spread. Across the eight spreads, that is a maximum of 64 points – a great number, and a great age to be! Check your result in the How Did You Do? section in the back of the book. Now sail up to the sun until you find the Sea of Green, and we can begin ...
