Overview

The Beach Club is fiction but every principal scene in it is real. There are strong action scenes surrounded by equally strong scenes of police humor and wit. The novel is a frolic of maverick and freewheeling cops in their quest to identify and apprehend a sexual predator, internal challenges of morality and commitment as well as overcoming interference by department administrators. Officer Vinnie Patrone, Detective Ray Depietro, and the rest of the Eden Valley Police swing shift are plunged into the midst of a pursuit for a serial rapist that plagues the California city. To compound matters, Lt. Alex Santos, a headhunting, backstabbing administrator is pursuing the chief's job, and exploits the shifts mishaps to his advantage. Richard Paloma reveals a behind the scenes look at the dark humor and aggravations of being a uniformed patrol officer. He uses his years of experience as a police officer and detective to capture the camaraderie, challenges, and internal politics within law enforcement today. About the Author

Mr. Richard Paloma has been in law enforcement for over 17 years in Northern California. He has had various assignments including many years in the S.F. Bay Area as a patrol officer and detective. For the last four years, he has been a police sergeant for a police agency in the San Joaquin Valley. Mr. Paloma is a member of the Police Writers Association and also belongs to various writers’ groups in California. He has attended many writers’ seminars and conferences including the La Jolla Writers Conference in San Diego. He has a Bachelors Degree with honors from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California.

The Beach Club" is about a bunch of officers on the swing shift of a fictional Bay Area town who have to apprehend the villain. Paloma investigated sexual assaults during his 14 years with the Newark Police Department. It shows through in the description of the locations, to the perp getting grilled downtown.
I was quite surprised att eh end of the book to find out who did it! You will be, too.

Paloma’s novel is an intriguing police ride-a-long through the fictional East Bay city of Eden Valley, California, newly plagued by a serial rapist. More than a look at department politics and procedures, readers are invited into the antics of a squad much like Police Academy. Action scenes dominate with equally strong displays of police humor and wit. Love it.
