Everth Sotelo was born on January 1992. At the age of 2 his family moved to Miami, Florida but eventually settled in Los Angeles, California. Sotelo began writing short stories in high school based on his family anecdotes. He attended California State University Los Angeles where he studied iconic literary figures such as Gabriel Garcia Marquez, John Steinbeck, and Ernest Hemingway. He graduated with a Bachelors in English, and went on to attend California State University Dominguez Hills where he obtained a Masters in Rhetoric and Composition.
Sotelo's short stories,
I see Biuti,
Circle of Light, and
The Poor Fatmagool have been published by CSUDH's literary magazine "Enjambed" where he received acclaimed recognition for his deceptively simple style of writing and vivid interior character monologues. His first book, an anthology of erotic poetry, marks the beginning of his career as a writer. But his young adult novel,
The Bad Blessings, placed him among the steps of contemporary writers such as Neil Gaiman and Colson Whitehead.
He is passionately involved in creative writing projects, community service, and research in education. Everth Sotelo currently teaches English Literature in LAUSD.
